Nomad Souls / HUNTING LODGE

This album was the first Hunting Lodge I heard.
A record review in Fools Mate magazine praised Hunting Lodge highly, so I searched for it to find out what it sounded like.
The review described the sound as similar to SPK, and as I was a big fan of SPK, I remember wanting to hear it at all costs.
Their first album, “Will," was difficult to obtain, but I managed to get hold of the Side Effect version of this album that came out later.
The sound lived up to my expectations, and I felt a similarity to SPK.
However, while SPK put a pathological madness at the forefront, I didn’t sense that same madness with Hunting Lodge.
And yet, the album felt somewhat similar to SPK, partly because of the use of metal percussion, but also because the sound effectively expressed a grotesque, or rather, creepy quality.
Handing Lodge didn’t leave behind many works, which was a shame for me as I like that kind of sound.
SPK also didn’t have many works before “Machine Age Voodoo," and I felt that there was a commonality between them in that respect.
Also, Side Effect is a label run by members of SPK, so it made sense that it would be released by Side Effect.
