Aurora / ÉTANT DONNÉS

This was the first time I heard Etant Done.
A whispered vocal slowly intertwines with an endless stream of quiet noise.
As I listened to the music, I felt as if each scene in a surreal modern drama was slowly flowing by.
Perhaps the jacket had an effect.
This feeling, which I experienced for the first time, is something unique to Etant Done.

Despite being active for a long time, Etant Done is a prolific artist, with few works released.
Etant Done’s early works seemed to create sound using a cut-up method, but I think it was with this work that he developed the technique of unique vocals permeating the work.
This approach feels similar to that used by contemporary artists.
It is a work that is very different from music.

The live footage seen on YouTube mainly features vocals and tabletop machines, and seems to be a continuation of the style seen in this album.
Etant Done has created a genre that is the polar opposite of aggressive power electronics.
However, this genre has few followers, and it feels like it has become a genre that is unique to Etant Done.

This is a group that I hope will continue to remain one of a kind forever.
